For half a century, Regal Automotive has proudly served the drivers and families of Lakeland and the greater Polk County community. What started as a vision from one local entrepreneur has grown into the largest automotive dealership group in Lakeland, while still remaining true to its roots as a family-owned and operated business.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we're proud to look back at where we started, how we grew, and the people who made it all possible.
Built on Family, Community, and Hard Work
Regal Automotive was founded in 1976 by Sal Campisi Sr., who believed that a dealership should treat customers like neighbors and employees like family.
That philosophy shaped everything from the beginning.
Over the years, Regal truly became a family business in every sense of the word. Children grew up around the dealership, learning the business firsthand. Grandchildren spent time in the showrooms and service lanes. Nieces, nephews, and extended family members all played a role in helping the company grow.
Today, the legacy continues under the leadership of Sal Campisi Jr., who carries forward the same values his father established nearly five decades ago. The mission remains simple: provide exceptional service, treat people the right way, and continue building something the entire family and community can be proud of.
Growing With Lakeland
Since opening its doors in 1976, Regal Automotive has continuously expanded to meet the needs of drivers throughout Central Florida. What began as a single dealership evolved through strategic growth, new brands, and expanded services.
Some key milestones in Regal's history include:
- 1982 - Added the AMC and Renault franchises, which later became Eagle
- 1983 - Welcomed the Jeep brand to the Regal lineup
- 1988 - Added the Daihatsu franchise
- 1991 - Acquired Precision Oldsmobile and GMC Truck
- 1994 - Expanded into luxury vehicles with the purchase of Wedgewood Acura
- 2000 - Added Daewoo American
- 2009 - A major expansion with the acquisition of Chevrolet and Kia franchises and a second location on Highway 98 South
These milestones helped Regal grow into the largest automotive dealership group in Lakeland, serving thousands of customers each year across multiple brands and locations.

Today, Regal Automotive operates two locations in Lakeland, allowing customers to shop, service, and maintain their vehicles with ease. With a wide range of new and pre-owned vehicles and factory-trained technicians, Regal continues to serve drivers across Central Florida with the same commitment to quality and customer care that started in 1976.
While the brands and facilities have evolved, the core values remain the same:
